ONE COLOUR. MANY POSSIBILITIES.
Start with the sample colour names or enter the materials you have available.
Spin once and use that colour as the focus of your next creative exercise.
Remove the result and spin again if you want two different colours to work with.
A SMALL CREATIVE CONSTRAINT
A random colour can be a useful creative constraint. Pick a colour for a sketch, choose the focus of a photography walk, or set a playful theme for a group art session. The result is a colour name you can interpret in your own way.
Edit the list to match the paints, pencils, clothes, or materials you actually have. The wheel’s decorative slice colours do not define exact colour values. For production design, choose and verify a specific colour code in your design software after the spin.
The result is a starting point. You decide how boldly, subtly, or unexpectedly to use it.
Enter the names on your pencils, markers, or paint tubes. Spin for the main colour of a quick sketch, then build around it with materials already on your desk. Remove that result before a second spin if the challenge calls for two different colours.
Choose a colour, then look for it in doors, signs, plants, or everyday objects. Photograph a few examples or simply notice them as you walk. A familiar route can become a small visual scavenger hunt when you have one specific thing to look for.
List colours that exist in your wardrobe and spin for one accent: a scarf, shirt, bag, or pair of socks. The result can be a small detail rather than an entire outfit. Keep only options you would actually enjoy wearing that day.
This tool picks a text entry from your list. A slice labelled Blue can use a different decorative colour, because the wheel’s Palette control changes the whole illustration. Switching the site to dark mode changes its appearance, not the options or their chances.
If you need exact values, enter your own labels such as “Ocean #247BA0” or “Coral #FF6B6B”. The wheel can select between those labels, but it does not generate colour codes, check contrast, or build matching palettes. For choosing a subject as well as a colour, make a separate custom idea wheel.
A FEW THINGS TO KNOW
No. This wheel selects text labels. You can put HEX codes in the entry list yourself if you want to choose among precise colours.
Yes. Replace the list with the names on your paint tubes, pencils, or other materials.
No. It randomly chooses from a list of colour labels. It does not calculate complementary, analogous, or triadic palettes. Use the result as a creative starting point, then choose your final colour relationships in your usual art or design tools.
Your entry list is saved in this browser when local storage is available. Share this wheel also creates a link with a copy of the names and title, so you can reopen that list on another device. Decorative palette settings are not included in the link.
