FROM A LIST TO THE NEXT PERSON

Build a name wheel in three steps

01

Paste your group

Copy one name per line. Add initials to distinguish people who share a first name.

02

Choose the next person

Spin to select one of the remaining entries at random.

03

Keep turns moving

Remove the selected entry for a round without repeats. Keep a copy of your original list to paste back when the next round begins.

A NAME, THEN A NEXT STEP

Make taking turns part of the fun

Paste your group’s names into the editor, one per line. The name picker gives every entry one equal slice. It is a simple way to choose who presents first, who starts a board game, or who picks the next song. The sample names are there to try the wheel; replace them with your own group before using it.

For a round where everyone participates once, use Remove winner after each result. Keep names on the wheel if repeat selections are welcome. Two people with the same name are easier to distinguish with an initial, such as Alex B. and Alex K.

A name picker for your kind of group

Replace the sample names before you begin, and explain what being selected means. A little preparation keeps the activity moving.

Classroom participation

Choose a volunteer to read a passage, demonstrate a solution, or share an idea. Include only the students participating in that activity, and decide together how passing works. Remove a name after its turn if you want to work through the group.

Presentation order

Put presenters on the wheel and remove each selected name to build the running order. The final remaining name takes the last slot without another spin. Copy the list somewhere safe first, so you can paste it back for a new round.

Who starts the game?

When every player is ready, one spin chooses who goes first. For a later round, leave everyone on the wheel if repeat starters are welcome. Pair it with the truth or dare wheel when you also want a ready-to-edit prompt.

Equal chances depend on the list

With eight people listed once, each person has a 12.5% chance. Accidentally pasting one person twice gives that person two entries. Check for duplicate lines before the draw. If two different people share a name, distinguish them with initials or nicknames instead of deleting one.

Names stay in this browser unless you share them. A shared wheel link contains the full list, so consider initials for a group you do not want to identify publicly. For choosing a job rather than a person, the chore wheel keeps the task list separate.

A FEW THINGS TO KNOW

Before you draw the next name

Can the same person be picked twice?

Yes, if their name stays in the list. Remove the winner after a spin to keep that entry out of later selections.

Are names uploaded to an account?

No account is used. Lists are stored in this browser. A shared link contains the names, so only share lists you are comfortable letting others see.

How many names can the wheel hold?

You can enter up to 100 names, one per line, and need at least two entries to spin. For a larger event, narrow the list to the people taking part in the current activity rather than combining several people into one entry.

Can I restore everyone after removing winners?

Paste your original names back into the editor. Restore sample brings back the example names supplied with this page and clears the results; it does not recover your previous custom list. A share link made before the round can also preserve a copy.
